I have, who has? is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing and refreshing a range of animals in French. The game is ideal for language learning, with a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking and reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice - I point out particular phonemes, sounds and accents too - such as the silent x on the plural of cheval : chevaux, and this is really useful at ***consolidating accurate French pronunciation.
There are 25 animals featured in the game:
bee : bird : butterfly : cat : caterpillar : chicken : cow : dog : dolphin : donkey : duck : fish : fox : frog : horse : kangaroo : monkey : mouse : owl : parrot : pig : rabbit : sheep : spider : tortoise / turtle
All the animals may not be in my immediate or longer-term learning plan, but the learning objective of the game moves beyond simply learning or consolidating individual units of vocabulary or practising particular grammar points: it’s about actively learning new language too. The images are essentially visual prompts and clues, helping students infer meaning from context. The longer and more complex sentences really help students focus on reading out loud accurately, and think more carefully about language, and how to pronounce it correctly.
There is implicit input on grammatical concepts such as singular and plural, adjectival agreement, gender, definite, indefinite and partitive articles and position of adjectives, either preceding or proceeding the particular noun, which can differ from language to language: I’ve found this is really useful for students who may be learning more than one language at a particular time. This is a very successful way of really getting the most of what looks like a straightforward game for consolidating the target vocabulary - it is actually so much more.
Laminate the cards if you can: they're more learner-friendly, and last in excellent condition for years, so you'll be able to use them over and over again.

99 high-frequency Spanish verbs with 99 matching English verbs cards really do help to create a lively language learning environment, ideal for GCSE Spanish . The games and activities are a really successful alternative to more traditional ‘vocabulary drilling’ exercises.
Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their core Spanish verbs vocabulary in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The game cards and accompanying Recall & Write activities have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing and spelling. It doesn’t matter if any of the verbs don’t feature in your medium or even longer-term learning plan: this is a great way of encouraging your students to engage with new language, and to build their vocabulary at the same time. This prepares them really well for creative activities in Spanish - they will have a rich vocabulary to choose from.
The Reference, Recall & Write workbook has 18 pages. It includes an alphabetical Spanish-English reference list of all 99 verbs. Students find this really useful as a learning support resource, and it comes in very handy for quick vocabulary quizzes too. The Recall and Write challenges help students familiarize themselves with, and really embed, the range of verbs in the set, and also get used to reading, writing and spelling in Spanish. It’s also a great way of developing literacy skills in***Spanish***. The challenges can be done several times, as students simply cover previous responses, so they definitely get a lot of use from a single workbook.
There are three differentiated recall challenges:
Written Recall Challenge One students write the English verbs from a Spanish prompt, with all the verbs in alphabetical order, Spanish-English.
Written Recall Challenge Two again, students write the verbs in English from a Spanish prompt, but the Spanish verbs are now in random, rather than alphabetical order. Language learners often learn or are familiar with new vocabulary in a particular order, so it increases the recall challenge by changing that order.
Written Recall Challenge Three the final challenge requires students to write the corresponding Spanish verb from an English prompt. The English verbs are also in random order. This challenge really helps with vocabulary recall, which is quite challenging when vocabulary does not appear in the context of a sentence. It’s really useful for spelling in Spanish too.

FRENCH EASTER BUNNY ANIMALS GAMES CARDS are perfect for young learners of FRENCH. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both masculine and feminine, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at determiners in FRENCH too.
It doesn���t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with FRENCH, to identify cognates and to begin to link spelling with sound in FRENCH. A lively whole-group multi-skill language learning game, ideal for Primary French / KS2 French and KS3 French / KS4 French students. The repetitive nature of the questions and answers, supported by the visual prompt of the clock faces, makes it perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to tell the time in French, and for pronunciation practice too.
There are 8 clock faces per page, and I cut the cards in sets of 2, so four larger cards per page. This means that students can see two clock faces and times per game card, which really helps to consolidate learning. It’s also a lot less prep than cutting out eight individual cards, though I do actually have a set like this, which we use as a larger-size dominoes game.
I always laminate my language learning cards - it’s definitely worth the extra prep time and expense, as they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years. The aim of the game is to arrange the clocks in the relevant order. Students will generally have several cards each, depending on the size of your class. We usually set the cards on a table, so that students can see the timeline clearly. I frequently use a timer when we play. Playing in teams, using either a single challenge, or with both challenges together, is really popular - students find the competitive element really motivating and are genuinely keen to see which team can finish first, and whether they can beat their own time record. The games also work well as pair or small-group games.

Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in German, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set features ten differentiated word searches, with each consecutive grid increasing in challenge. It focuses on 25 German Christmas words, which will also help to develop students’ awareness of some German-speaking countries Christmas traditions and figures, such as Sankt Nikolaus and Knecht Ruprecht. The vocabulary is really useful for stimulating discussion about German Christmas practices and customs. Students also enjoy talking about other Christmas traditions they know or follow. The German Christmas vocabulary list features the definite article, though some grids also have the indefinite article / plurals for additional challenge.
There are 5 German to German grids, where students are prompted with the German words, and look for them in German in the grid. For additional consolidation, each grid also features an English word list to complete. There are also 5 English to German grids, where the prompts are given in English. Students look for the German translation in the grid. They also write the German translation of the English word.
There is an answer grid for each word search, so that students can check their answers, or use for a little extra help if they need it. The answer keys help them develop independence in their learning, and also provide them with an additional opportunity to engage with the German vocabulary. The word searches and answer keys are in landscape format, with arrows indicating in which direction the individual words are located.

Dominoes games are really versatile in language learning, useful during the introduction phase of learning, as well as for cover lessons, as starters, warm-ups, plenaries, practice & refresh, and also free-choice activity time - I have folders with a variety of resources ready for students to select particular content according to what area they feel they’d like to work on.
Laminate if you can - the dominoes are far more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years.

Word searches are a simple and effective way of encouraging students to engage with the written word in German, refreshing and reinforcing language as they complete the grids. This set is aimed at beginner German students of all ages, focusing on the key verbs haben and sein. They introduce students to the concept of verb conjugation from the very beginning of their learning, which enhances their German across all four skills. They provide an popular alternative to more traditional grammar exercises or drills.
The set features 10 differentiated word searches, with an increasing level of challenge. There are 5 search grids with German prompts and German responses in the grid. Students also complete a list of corresponding conjugations in English for additional consolidation. These are followed by 5 search grids with English prompts and German responses in the grid. They also write out the corresponding German conjugations, as well as looking for them in the grid. Each grid is in landscape format, and has an accompanying answer key so that students can check their own responses.
This kind of activity is really versatile, and useful in a range of learning contexts: starters, refreshers, finishers. fun-time fillers or sub / cover lessons at any time during the school year, as well as during the period where the verbs are the current language focus. Students benefit from revisiting the word searches over several weeks until they are absolutely confident that they can conjugate the verbs accurately in any context.

297 high-frequency German verbs in the infinitive form. They offer an interactive and communicative alternative to more traditional vocabulary and grammar drilling activities. The alphabetical German-English lists of all 297 verbs work well as a long-term reference resource. The cards are versatile, and can be used for a number of language learning games; I’ve described several that are popular with my students.
There are 3 differentiated recall challenges:
= Challenge 1: students recall and write the English verb from a German verb prompt. The verbs are in alphabetical order.
= Challenge 2: again, students recall and write the English verb from a German verb prompt, though the German verbs are in random, rather than alphabetical order. Students do often learn new vocabulary in alphabetical order, so it's important to work on recall in random order too.
= Challenge 3: gives an English prompt, and students recall and write the corresponding German verb, which engages their recall slightly differently, and is a great way of perfecting spelling too.<
I give my students regular opportunities to revisit the games and workbooks, and to note their progress on the Notes and Next Steps template. We use this to reflect on learning and progress, and to set targets - It's a really successful way of embedding vocabulary, and of mapping progress. Students also note any new verbs they learn, helping them build a comprehensive verb bank, which really enriches their creative writing in German. It's also an effective tool to guide and inform whole-group discussion about learning.
